10 Most Beautiful Beaches in Phuket

Freedom Beach

Freedom Beach - Best hidden beach in Phuket

Freedom Beach is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket and for a reason. It lies a few minutes from the famous Patong beach. With its pristine white sand and clear blue waters, this is also one of the quietest and cleanest beaches in Phuket. Sounds like a paradise, right?

The only “downside” is that Freedom Beach is not so easy to reach, which makes it such a hidden spot. In fact, during the high season, it is accessible only by longtail boat, but we will dive into that a bit later.

When we visited the beach, there were no umbrellas or mats on the Freedom Beach, however, it has changed and now you can find these things for 150 THB. You still should bring your own towel and snorkeling gear as this is one of the best beaches in Phuket for snorkeling.

Recently some tourists mentioned that they were asked to pay 100 THB to access the beach. Technically, this is not allowed, but some locals are insisting, so sometimes you have no other option – bring some cash just to be prepared.

If you get hungry or thirsty, you will find Barefoot Bistro. It’s a picturesque top-rated bar where you can enjoy a cocktail or a meal. The bar prepares local dishes like Pad Thai or even delicious burgers. It is open from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm, but make sure you bring cash.

There are some local vendors, but it is better to bring your own water.

How to reach Freedom Beach?

Longtail boat is the most comfortable option and probably the best decision if you are traveling with kids or don’t want to hike. The price is usually between 1200 to 1500 THB depending on your negotiation skills.

Since there are different ways to get to Freedom Beach you can ask your captain. You might cross some of the most famous Phuket beaches like Kamala Beach or Paradise Beach. Usually, they will give you approximately 3 hours to enjoy the beach before taking you back.

Keep in mind that the ride can get splashy. If you are carrying electronic equipment such as a camera, keep it safe. Also, when you disembark keep in mind that you will be in shallow water.

If you don’t want to spend all that money to get to Freedom Beach and you are an adventurous type, you can find a dirt road passing high above the beach. Make sure to use the free access path from Lek Sands Beach Bar.

It is important to consider that this is not just a simple hike, It’s quite challenging, especially walking back up. If you decide to go through this road I strongly recommend you wear proper shoes and outfits. The hike takes around 30 minutes.

As an alternative, you can pay 300 THB per person to get down to Freedom Beach, however, you will still have to take the stairs after that. Overall, I think a longtail boat is a better deal in this case.

Banana Beach

Banana Beach - the most beautiful beaches in Phuket

Banana Beach is probably the best-hidden beach in Phuket. It is located on the north side of Phuket and this privileged location makes it still very quiet and unspoiled.

Considering its secluded location, this is one of the best beaches in Phuket for couples, especially if you are a hiker and don’t mind an adventurous path to get to Banana Beach. This is easily one of the best sunset spots in Phuket.

During the high season, there is a little local restaurant serving food and drinks, nothing fancy but the food is genuine and the Thai hospitality will make it the perfect place to be.

Also, don’t get it confused with another Banana Beach that is located away from the main island. This Banana Beach can be found on the Choeng Thale. And you can easily combine it with Naithon Beach wooden bridge which is one of the best photo spots in Phuket.

How to reach Banana Rock Beach?

Locating the road to Banana Beach can be a bit tricky for most visitors. Once you get closer, you will need to follow the signs to Naithon Beach. To get to Banana Beach from the road, drive through Naithon Beach, passing the “Andaman White Beach Resort.”

Navigate through a few curves, keeping a close eye on the right-hand side. Look for a line of bikes or cars parked on the roadside, indicating the first and best way down. If you see the ‘Trisara Resort,’ you’ve gone too far; turn around and look more carefully.

The second access is a bit further, in a curve a couple of hundred meters away. While easier, this route requires a longer walk, including crossing a shallow stream of water.

Parking is limited, but roadside parking is generally safe due to minimal traffic. Walk down a shaded hill, not as steep as it once was, and you’ll be rewarded as the turquoise blue water emerges through the trees.

Kamala Beach

Kamala Beach - best beaches to visit in Phuket

Kamala Beach is one of the best beaches to visit in Phuket,  offering a tranquil escape just a short distance from the lively Patong Beach.

Despite its expansive size, Kamala Beach exudes a sense of peacefulness, creating the perfect atmosphere for relaxation. The shallow and crystal-clear waters during the high season make it an inviting spot for swimming.

The northern and central areas are particularly attractive, with some caution advised around the south end where fishing boats are often anchored, and dirty streams might release brown waters.

Kamala Beach boasts several excellent Thai and international restaurants right on the shore. The beach is home to some of the most famous and best beach bars in Phuket.

The Pine Beach Bar, Café Del Mar, and On The Roof are just a few options to spend a day, lunching or dining, or maybe just admiring a sunset with a drink.

While the immediate surroundings of Kamala Beach might not offer much in terms of attractions, the beach itself becomes the main attraction. It is an ideal destination for those seeking a tranquil and laid-back beach experience in Phuket.

The beach beds are for 100 THB and the towel is for 50 THB. Unlike other beautiful beaches in Phuket, it doesn’t require any hike. You can park your scooter or car right next to Nanork Seafood or Kamala Police Station.

Ao Yon Beach

Ao Yon Beach - Best beaches in Phuket for swimming

Ao Yon Beach is nestled away from the lively tourist spots and offers a peaceful retreat for those seeking a quieter and more laid-back atmosphere. It is one of the best beaches in Phuket for swimming, considering the calm & clean waters and its privileged location on the bay.

Known for its soft white sands and clear blue waters, Ao Yon Beach provides a picturesque setting that is perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. The beach is relatively uncrowded and often missed by tourists.

Ao Yon is not known for its extensive range of water activities or nightlife. Instead, it appeals to those who appreciate simplicity and a slower pace. It’s an ideal spot for a leisurely swim, a quiet beach picnic, or a peaceful walk along the shore.

Also, you won’t find any sun beds here, which adds a nice remote vibe to the place. Make sure you bring your own mat, umbrella, and towel.

But you certainly don’t have to bring your own food, because there are multiple great cafes and restaurants around. I personally loved Flamingo (Beachfront Cafe & Bar & Co-Working) and beyond its delicious food, it is a perfect place to snap some cool Phuket photos.

Looking for a place to stay near Ao Yon Beach? Bandara Phuket Beach Resort is an amazing and affordable 4-star beach resort 100 meters away from the beach. It is a great location if you want to enjoy the peaceful and serene side of Phuket.

Nui Beach

The most picturesque beach in Phuket: Nui Beach

This beach has changed a lot in the past years and it transformed from a hidden Phuket gem to most Instagrammable places in Phuket. And it is more like a beach club and less of a secluded beach.

Once you arrive at Nui Beach, you will be welcomed with a spectacular beach view. But there is more – you will see swings, nests, and even a bath perfectly framing the turquoise blue water. And multiple cute restaurants & bars.

Basically, you can spend an entire day at Nui Beach. Starting from taking photos to chilling on the beach and snorkeling. Also, if you arrive early, you will be able to enjoy a private beach and amazing golden light for your photos.

Keep in mind that there is a 100 THB entrance fee and an additional fee if you want to rent chairs. Also, you won’t be able to get to the beach by scooter, so you will have to pay an additional 200 THB for the transfer to the beach and back. All cash payments of course, so be prepared.

As an alternative, you can enjoy a 2-kilometer-long hike, which can be a fun thing to do early in the morning, but certainly not under the Thailand sun.

Overall, this is not the best place if you are looking for a hidden beach in Phuket. However, if you are on a hunt for picturesque corners, you will love Nui Beach and it is truly one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket.

Kata Beach

Best family-friendly beach in Phuket: Kata Beach

Kata Beach is a popular beach located on the southwestern coast of the island. It is known for its picturesque beauty and inviting waters, which makes it one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket.

Kata Beach is divided into two main areas: Kata Yai and Kata Noi. Kata Yai is the largest of the two, offering a lively scene with beachside vendors and water activities.  In contrast, Kata Noi provides a quieter escape, and it is a more peaceful beach experience.

If you are looking for the best beaches in Phuket for families, this should be your number one choice. It is not super crowded, the water is peaceful, there are multiple sun beds available (for 100 THB) and you will see a lifeguard roaming around.

The Kata area is well-equipped with facilities catering to families, including various restaurants and cafes serving a range of cuisines to suit different tastes. Families can try a range of culinary delights without straying too far from the beachfront.

Beyond sunbathing and swimming, Kata Beach presents an array of water sports and activities suitable for all age groups. Families can explore the underwater world through snorkeling or engage in thrilling adventures like paddleboarding and kayaking.

Overall, it is a great beach in Phuket that you can easily access from the road. Perfect to enjoy some family time, especially if you have kids.

Nai Harn Beach

10 Most Beautiful Beaches in Phuket

Nai Harn Beach is a little hidden gem and one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket. With its soft white sand and blue water, it offers one of the most incredible and pristine landscapes in all of Thailand.

Thanks to this, the beach has gained a lot of popularity and might get a little crowded during the peak season, but not as much as other beaches like Patong.

Just a gasp away from Nai Harn Beach there is another hidden gem, Ao Sane Beach, which is even more private and intimate. This is also one of the best beaches in Phuket for snorkeling and seeing corals.

As a matter of leisure, you can find massage possibilities and a line of restaurants and cafes just across the small street beyond this land. During the high season, you will find vendors and food stalls on the beach.

For a little dip into the Thai culture, visit Wat Nai Harn, located just a few meters away from the beach. A perfect place to unwind and get spiritual.

It is also home to The Nai Harn, one of the most beautiful beach resorts in Phuket. It stands on a perk of a hill and boasts panoramic views of the bay. A perfect location to access Nai Harn Beach any time you want.

Patong Beach

The most lively beach in Phuket: Patong Beach

Patong is a great choice as it is one of the widest beaches in Phuket. Since the beach is surrounded by hotels and houses, it is one of the liveliest beaches in Phuket. Around the area, you will find countless bars and restaurants, beach facilities, and playgrounds.

Thanks to its location on a little bay, this is also one of the best beaches in Phuket for swimming. The shallow waters and the gentle waves make it safe also for non-expert swimmers and kids.

In Patong Beach, you can also find countless activities, from water skiing to parasailing. Or maybe you can just relax in one of the fancy beach clubs in the area.

If you are not staying in Patong, you can easily access the beach as it is well-connected and doesn’t require any hiking or dirt roads.

Patong Beach is famous for its legendary nightlife. When the sun goes down the infamous Bangla Walking Street lightens up. The area is also perfect for shopping as there are several malls and markets.

Overall, Patong Beach is a great choice for a lot of travelers, and party animals on top. But if you are searching for something more intimate, exclusive, or unspoiled this might not be your place. It has a lively atmosphere and it can get very crowded during the high season.

If you end up staying in Patong and want to avoid crowds at Patong Beach, take a short walk to the Sea Salt Beach – it is a tiny beach with the warmest water, but somehow tourists always pass by, so it is basically empty.

Haad Laem Sing

Looking for the most beautiful beaches in Phuket? You are in the right place because this article features the best Phuket beaches.

Haad Laem Sing is one of the top beaches in Phuket, located just a few minutes away from the busy Patong Beach.

After being closed for a few years, the beach is once again accessible and can enjoyed in all its splendor. What makes this one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket is its unspoiled and pristine landscape.

Despite the short distance from Patong Beach, this remains one of the hidden gems in Phuket since it is not so easily accessible. You can get there by using a local boat from Surin Beach for just 200 THB per person. Or as an alternative, you can hike the trail from Patcharin Seafood restaurant.

A word of caution: the path to Haad Laem Sing demands proper footwear and a steady sense of balance. Climbing some rocks marks the beginning of the trail, not overly challenging but requiring care. Keep an eye out for the first sign that guides the way.

Beyond the initial rocks, the path becomes more manageable and level, thanks to the thoughtful efforts of the restaurant owner, who has ensured ease, even including a tiny bridge. Express your gratitude by enjoying a drink or a meal at his charming restaurant.

If you are looking for some of the best views of Haad Laem Sing, head to Laem Sing View Point. This Phuket photo spot is located on the side of the road and doesn’t require any hiking, so it can be easily added to your Phuket itinerary.

Surin Beach

Best beach in Phuket for snorkeling: Surin Beach

Surin Beach stands out as one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket. It is located on the west coast of Phuket, between Patong Beach and the airport.

Its privileged location on a large dream bay makes it ideal to swim. The fine white sand, the fantastic blue sea, and the coconut palm trees make it the perfect scenery to relax and unwind.

The beach itself provides facilities and services. There are several beach clubs and vendors selling fruits and all kinds of goods to make your day smooth and relaxing. During the high season, you can also find a space to get a massage.

Surin Beach is rated as one of the best beaches in Phuket for snorkeling. The clean water and the calm waves make the experience unforgettable, you can find a lot of tropical fish, but no corals. So make sure you bring your snorkeling gear when visiting Surin Beach.

During the high season, you will see a lot of sun beds with umbrellas around the bay and the price is 100 THB per person.

There are also interesting fine dining options like Wagyu Steakhouse, The Smokaccia, or Kalido (which also boasts a beach club).
