Best photo spots in Mykonos Town and photography tips
Little Venice
Little Venice is one of the most epic Mykonos photography spots and one of the main attractions in Mykonos.
If you are wondering where to capture the beauty of Little Venice, head to the tiny rocky beach in front. You can either stand on the beach or sit down and let your photographer play with a zoom lens because there is plenty of space behind.
The white houses with colorful details perked on the shore of Mykonos are an interest of many, so make sure you visit it early or be prepared for a crowd.
Location: View of Little Venice
Windmills of Mykonos
Mykonos’s top attractions include the Windmills of Mykonos, however, when it comes to photography, it can be a real challenge. Mykonos is the synonym for wind and the windmills are built in the windiest place of Mykonos.
Also, it is one of the top places in Mykonos to take pictures at sunset, so the crowds are absolutely insane. In order to avoid it, wake up early. You can start with Little Venice, cover the promenade, and climb up to the windmills.
I will share 2 alternative locations where to photograph the Windmills of Mykonos further in this article. If the wind is not your friend, you won’t want to miss those!
Location: Windmills of Mykonos
Happiness Store
Somehow this simple store has become one of the famous Mykonos Instagram spots and you probably have seen a lot of photos from this place all over social media.
Despite the small sign, there are many ways to take photos with the Happiness store. You can try different lenses, photograph the entrance, include the tiny streets around or sit on the stairs right in front of the store. Try it all and choose your favorite.
While many guides advise coming early, I had a bit of an Instagram vs. Reality moment. Early in the day, this street is quite dirty and it is a hotspot for collecting rubbish from houses around. So I advise gathering some patience and taking photos later in the morning or even afternoon.
Location: Happiness Store
Agios Nikolaos-Kapelle
Agios Nikolaos-Kapelle is one of the most underrated places in Mykonos for photos and you won’t find many guides. However, a typical white church with an unusual red dome is certainly worth photographing.
The square is filled with restaurants, so it can get very busy during lunch and dinner time. But other than that, you won’t find many photographers around. Also, the adorable tables of the restaurants add a cute touch to the photos.
Location: Agios Nikolaos-Kapelle
Panoramic view of the Windmills
While most people come to this street to photograph Little Venice, this is my favorite location to capture the Windmills. This tiny promenade is filled with bars and it offers splendid views.
One of the best spots is somewhere nearby Panellḗnio bar. From there, you have enough space to use a zoom lens and make the windmills look bigger & even more impressive than in the reality.
It does get crowded during the day, so early morning is the best time. Just pay attention to the water as a big wave can splash you.
Location: Panoramic view of the Windmills
I Love Mykonos Staircase
These cute stairs have gained a lot and for a good reason. Your Mykonos photography wouldn’t be complete without a snap here. Bring a wide-angle lens, because the space is very limited.
The stairs lead to the boutique, so during the day this spot can get a bit busy and has some clothes hanging around while early in the morning you will find these stairs completely empty.
Location: I Love Mykonos Staircase
The square under the I Love Mykonos Staircase
And right under the stairs of I Love Mykonos, you will find a cute square with a massive bougainvillea. It has everything you need for a picture-perfect – white houses, cute shops, and epic flowers on the top.
If you don’t have much time to explore the town of Mykonos, this is the location that you don’t want to miss. Together with the stairs as it is right next to it. Early morning is the best time to visit!
Location: The square under the I Love Mykonos Staircase
Metropolitan Church
Metropolitan Church is located right behind the promenade of Little Venice and it is another great photo spot in Mykonos that you don’t want to miss.
A wide-angle lens works best, so you can capture the church and the tiny streets around. Despite the location, there are not many people around to take photos, however, avoid early mornings as the square is filled with trucks delivering food and cleaning.
Location: Metropolitan Church
Mattheou Andronikou
This cute street is filled with local souvenir shops and typical blue stairs & balconies. If you are wondering where to take photos in Mykonos to capture the essence of the island, Mattheou Andronikou is the place to be.
Wait until shops are open and head to Mattheou Andronikou with your camera. I am sure you will find many photo opportunities and things to photograph. Also, if you are planning to buy some souvenirs, this is the place to be.
Location: Mattheou Andronikou
Stairs of Veranda Bar Mykonos
Right behind the Veranda Bar in Little Venice, you will find these cute stairs topped with pink flowers. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I ended up very happy with the results, so I can say that this is one of the prettiest places in Mykonos.
I took this photo at a busy time, but with a bit of patience, you can get the job done. Ask your photographer to stand down while you climb up the stairs and snap another photo from Mykonos.
Location: Stairs of Veranda Bar Mykonos
Agias Paraskevis
Similar to Mattheou Andronikou, Agias Paraskevis is a typical street of Mykonos with white houses and blue balconies. However, there are only very few souvenir shops and fewer tourists around. It is hands down, one of the most underrated places in Mykonos for photos.
I also suggest playing with your zoom lens as the street is very long. Trust me, the result is going to be epic. And don’t miss the church that is almost at the beginning of the street.
Location: Agias Paraskevis
Panachra Church
And if you are on the hunt for hidden photo spots in Mykonos, Panachra Church should be your next stop. Located further away from crowds, it is a perfect stop to take pictures and capture the charm of Mykonos.
Bring your wide-angle lens and wear something colorful to pop out of the picture! Royal blue is probably the best choice and it will fit perfectly in most of the best photo spots in Mykonos.
Location: Panachra Church
Mpaoumi Street
This is the location you don’t want to miss if you want to take photos of the Windmills but don’t want the wind to ruin the way you look. Mpaoumi Street is an enchanting little street that had a direct view of the Windmills.
The length of the street, lets you play with the zoom lens and cut out the crowds in case you don’t want to wake up early. It is definitely one of the secret photography spots in Mykonos.
Location: Mpaoumi Street
Panagia Paraportiani
If you are looking for famous landmarks in Mykonos, add Panagia Paraportiani to your itinerary. And it is a place that you want to photograph as well.
The church has a unique shape, so there are many different ways to capture it. Don’t be afraid to get creative! However, there are quite a lot of people around, especially when the cruise ships and guided tours arrive, so gather some patience.

The square of Agia Kyriaki Church
The square in front of the Agia Kyriaki Church is one of the most Instagrammable places in Mykonos Town and is such a dreamy photo location. There is a house almost entirely covered with bougainvillea and that is a vibe that you don’t want to miss when visiting Mykonos.
It does get pretty crowded and it can be challenging to take photos later in the afternoon. Early morning is the best solution!
Location: The square of Agia Kyriaki Church
Paralia Choras Mikonou
Paralia Choras Mikonou is a wonderful sand beach in Mykonos town and it has some beautiful views of Mykonos attractions. It on the less crowded part of the town, but it can still get pretty busy during the peak season.
This is a great photo spot for landscape photography, but not the best option for portraits or travel bloggers. Unless you are visiting Mykonos at the end or the beginning of the season. A zoom lens is a must.
Location: Paralia Choras Mikonou
La Maison de Katrin Restaurant
Right in front of La Maison de Katrin Restaurant, you will find another huge bougainvillea. And let’s be honest, the most beautiful places in Mykonos have to involve some of these majestic flowers. Since it was not blooming during my visit, I found this cute shop right next to the restaurant.
Getting lost in the maze of Mykonos is the best way to find Instagram spots in Mykonos. You can keep this restaurant as the point of interest as you wander around.
Location: La Maison de Katrin Restaurant
Saint Nikolaos of Kadena Holy Orthodox Church
This is one of the top-rated sights in Mykonos and the picturesque location on the waterfront makes it only better. If you are looking for the best spot, head somewhere nearby Kazarma restaurant and take a photo with your zoom lens. You will love the results.
Location: Saint Nikolaos of Kadena Holy Orthodox Church
Agia Anna Church
This is another lovely church on your way to the Paralia Choras Mikonou beach. It is definitely one of the lesser-known Mykonos Instagram spots, but this means you can easily get your photo without a million people around.
The tiny chapel fits perfectly in your frame and the frontal view makes a lovely postcard to take back home from your Mykonos trip.

Best views of Mykonos
A list of the best Mykonos Instagram spots wouldn’t be complete without some epic views over the town. While these views over Mykonos might look familiar, there are not many instructions on how to find this viewpoint. I am here to help you with that!
First, put Cafe Vero on your Google Maps and take the little stairs right behind the bar. This is certainly a less fancy area of Mykonos, but 10 minutes of stairs and you should arrive. The viewpoint will be on your right and you certainly won’t miss it. You will see a little wall, so you can either climb over or arrive from the top.
I thought that this was one of the top places in Mykonos to take pictures at sunset, however, I arrived earlier and loved the sunlight over Mykonos. So if you have the chance, come later in the afternoon.
