1. Explore the stunning architecture of Bethesda Terrace 

Bethesda Terrace is a true architectural gem and one of the best attractions in Central Park. Known as the heart of the park, this two-level terrace features amazing designs inspired by nature, including carvings of birds, flowers, and fruits.

The arcade below the terrace is an absolute treasure. Its ceiling is covered with over 15,000 colorful encaustic tiles, which create a stunning mosaic effect. I am sure you will recognize this place from many movies and TV series. 

The terrace was designed in the 1860s and remains one of the most photographed landmarks in the park. Make sure to explore both the upper terrace, with its sweeping views, and the lower level, which leads directly to Bethesda Fountain.

Bethesda Terrace is free to enter and accessible from 6 am to 1 am. If you are a photography lover, you will need to plan an early sunrise mission. However, a lively atmosphere during the day is also a must-see!

Just steps away from Bethesda Terrace is Bethesda Fountain, one of the most recognizable landmarks in New York City.

My personal favorite is this hidden photo spot in Central Park that you can see in the photo above. It offers a unique view of the San Remo Apartment building and the Lake. This is particularly stunning during fall foliage considering the beautiful scenery around.

It is not indicated on Google Maps, so it might be a bit tricky to find, but I am here to help you with that. If you are walking from the Bethesda Fountain, cross the Bow Bridge and look to your left. The second path is the place to be!

9. See the Gapstow Bridge

Gapstow Bridge is a charming stone bridge located near the southeastern corner of the park. It’s one of the best things to do in Central Park, offering picture-perfect views of The Pond and the Midtown skyline.
