Tegalalang Rice Terraces is, without a doubt, one of the best photo spots in Ubud. Not only you can take some epic nature shots, you can get creative and find a lot of Insta-worthy spots around as well.

The rice fields are located on the side of the road and you can take advantage of the views from the moment you arrive. However, I suggest you head down to the bridge, cross the little river and explore the other side of Tegalalang Rice Terraces. 

Considering the popularity of this place, I highly recommend visiting Tegalalang Rice Terraces early in the morning. This way you can beat the crowds and avoid harsh lights that are an enemy to taking a good photo.

When we arrived around 7 am, we could access the fields without an entrance fee, but after leaving I saw people selling the tickets. I heard the entrance fee is around 25k IDR per person, but I am not sure how it works.

Also, make sure you bring water, some snacks, and comfortable shoes. The terraces can get extremely muddy, so if you are planning to visit more attractions after, bring an extra pair of sneakers. And make sure you plan a couple of hours to wander around and explore the rice terraces.

The Holy Spring Water of Pura Tirta Empul

The Tirta Empul Temple, also known as Pura Tirta Empul, is a revered Hindu water temple located in the village of Tampaksiring, just a short drive from Ubud. It is one of the most beautiful places in Ubud and you have to add it to your Bali itinerary.

The main highlight of the Tirta Empul Temple is its natural spring water pools, which are believed to possess purifying and healing properties. These springs are sourced from a holy mountain spring and are channeled into various fountains and pools within the temple complex. 

Visitors can also engage in a spiritual cleansing ritual known as “melukat.” The ritual involves a series of steps, including prayers, offerings, and bathing in the holy springs. It is believed that by participating in this ritual, one can cleanse their body, mind, and soul.

It is open from 8 am to 6 pm and the entrance fee is 50k IDR. If you want to take part in the Spiritual Cleansing, check out this experience and choose and choose an add-on to participate.

Ubud Palace

The Ubud Palace is a historical and cultural landmark and it is one of the prettiest places in Ubud. You can either visit during the day and take some photos of the place itself or join a dance performance for some unique postcards from Ubud.

It is open from 7 am to 5 pm and shows usually start around 7 pm. If you are not interested in the show, I suggest you arrive early, because the place is small and it gets crowded quickly. And it is completely free to visit during the day.

Campuhan Ridge Walk

Campuhan Ridge Walk is a  scenic trekking trail offering breathtaking views of lush landscapes, rolling hills, and the gentle flow of the Campuhan River. It is one of the top places in Ubud to take pictures at sunset.

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is suitable for people of various fitness levels. The trail is well-marked and relatively easy to navigate, making it accessible for both experienced hikers and casual walkers.

The entire route stretches for approximately 2 kilometers (1.2 miles), providing a leisurely stroll that can be completed in around 1-2 hours. And at the end of the hike, you will find multiple cafes in case you want to take a break or get some food.

Go to the Pos Pecalang Desa Ubud, take the path on the left, and follow the directions. Once you see cafes like Hilltop Cafe Ubud or Warung widi coffee, you are at the end of the path, so this is where you can take a break and go back or get a ride back to your hotel instead.

Bali Swing

At this point you will find many swings all over Bali, however, Bali Swing nearby Ubud is the original place where it all started. Considering the landscape views around, it is also one of the most Instagrammable places in Ubud.

This iconic spot is in the middle of the lush jungle that has attracted numerous Instagrammers for their stunning Ubud photography. However, be prepared for a relatively high price tag to enjoy this extraordinary opportunity.

Entry ticket is 500k IDR and it gives you access to all the swings and buffet lunch. If you want to rent the typical maxi dress, you will have to pay 250k IDR extra and if you want a photographer, it will be another 100k IDR. When it comes to taking photos, you should be there at the opening time. Any time after 9 am, it gets crowded and you will spend a lot of time queueing. Especially if you are visiting Ubud during the peak season.

Saraswati Temple

Saraswati Temple is located in the heart of Ubud and it is one of the famous Ubud Instagram spots. Dedicated to the goddess Saraswati, who represents knowledge, arts, and wisdom in Balinese Hinduism, the temple stands as a revered symbol of creativity and education in the local culture.

Tegenungan Waterfall is one of the most popular and easily accessible waterfalls near Ubud. Located in the village of Tegenungan, it boasts a majestic cascade of water surrounded by lush greenery. As you approach the waterfall, you’ll hear the powerful rush of water and feel its refreshing mist in the air. 

If you are wondering where to take photos in Ubud, you simply have to add one of the waterfalls of Ubud and this should be at the top of the list if you want to add a quick stop without too much climbing.

The entrance fee is 20k IDR and you will have to pay another 20k IDR for the upper part, which is the best spot for taking the photos. And considering its popularity, I highly recommend visiting Tegenungan Waterfall early in the morning.

Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Situated in Beng Village, Kanto Lampo Waterfall is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. This lesser-known waterfall offers a unique and enchanting experience. The gentle flow creates a serene and magical atmosphere, enhanced by the soft sunlight filtering through the surrounding foliage. 

So if you are on the hunt for lesser-known Ubud Instagram spots, this is the place to be. You don’t have to worry about the crowds and you can wait for the best light without other people stepping on your toes.

It is open from 6.30 am to 5.30 pm and the entrance fee is 10k IDR. The path to the waterfall is easy and short, however, it gets very muddy during the rainy season, which makes it challenging. It is better to visit Kanto Lampo Waterfall during the dry season.

Tukad Cepung Waterfall

Tukad Cepung Waterfall, located in Tembuku Village, offers a truly ethereal experience. To reach this gem, you’ll need to navigate a short trek through a narrow canyon. The waterfall, framed by towering cliffs and lush vegetation, creates a mesmerizing play of light and shadows. 

Considering its unique setting, there is not much point to visit the waterfall early in the morning as it is going to be very dark. I suggest you head to Tukad Cepung Waterfall around 9 am and wait for the sun’s rays to show (this depends on the season and weather conditions).

Overall, this is the most challenging place to reach and the most challenging to take photos. But if this doesn’t scare you, head to Tukad Cepung Waterfall and create some epic Ubud photos.

Best day club in Ubud – Cretya Ubud

Cretya Ubud is a day club located in Ubud, and it serves as an amazing addition to the already highly popular Alas Harum Agrotourism. Cretya offers a pool with a bar, lively DJs, and a café that provides stunning 360-degree views of the rice terrace.

Both Cretya Ubud and Alas Harum now impose an equal entrance fee of 50k IDR. This entrance ticket grants you access to a comprehensive range of amenities, including the pool, rice terrace, restaurant, coffee museum, and bar.

It is open every day from 9 am to 9 pm, and reservations are required to ensure your visit.

However, if you want to beat the crowds and get the best lights, you can book a floating breakfast starting from 7 am and basically gain private access to the day club. The price is 350k IDR per person or 600k IDR per couple.

Aesthetic cafe in Ubud – Clear Cafe

Ubud is all about cafes so there is no surprise that one of the Instagram spots in Ubud is located in a cafe. Clear Cafe emerges as one of the most Instagrammable cafes in Ubud and I promise it will leave you speechless right at the entrance.

Upon crossing the threshold through a beautifully engraved wooden door, you’ll be embraced by an abundance of greenery, courtesy of majestic tall bamboo trees. From there, you have the option to ascend a wooden spiral staircase to the second floor or stay downstairs.

With its thoughtful interior design, Clear Cafe maximizes natural lighting during the day, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of stepping into an enchanting garden.

The menu at Clear Cafe offers a delightful array of options, including a selection of unique coffees and a variety of delectable Western dishes. If you want to beat the crowds, you should plan a late lunch.
